The little boy on the right is Calvin. He really adores Jon. Everyday when he comes to school he comes and stands in the door and just repeats over and over again with a huge grin and laughing "Jon Teacher! Jon Teacher!" It's so cute how much he loves him.
Well one day Calvin came to school with this awful haircut. It looked all chopped up. Jon asked the Korean teacher what happened to his hair and she told Jon that Calvin's mom said "He loves Jon Teacher and tried to cut his hair the same as Jon Teachers by himself." How hilarious and cute is that? Luckily he only managed to do one side before he got caught. :)
Every month that there is a birthday we celebrate in the teachers room together. We were the only two May birthdays and we each got our own candles to blow out.
We recently made some new friends named Matt and Andrea. It's actually a really cool story how we met them. One Friday night we were walking to our little video store to rent a movie, only to find it being gutted and turned into a restaurant. So we went for a little walk down a street we never walk down and Jon saw a little grocery store we've never been in and wanted to check it out. So we went in to look around and there were these two foreigners in there too. They came up and said hi to us and asked if we worked for Brighton. They had heard of us from another teacher we met 5 months ago that works at their school. They had actually been thinking of trying to call our school and meet us because they are married and a year older than each of us. This is really rare around here. This is the first couple we've met that is our age and married. Most of the foreigners we come across are 22-25 and single. They are super fun and we hit it off right away. The very next weekend they invited us to a bridge walk... we walked a little over 4 miles across the Gwangalli bridge. It was so fun and beautiful. We spent the day together and had a blast with them. We are so thankful to have met another couple to be able to hang out with. It is so cool how Jon and Matt clicked so fast and the same happend for Andrea and I. We really enjoy their company. That was 4 weeks ago we met in the grocery store.. and we're going on a weekend trip with them this Saturday. I am sure there will be more fun pictures to come that include these new friends of ours. Thank you God for giving us community in our little world here!
There was a concert in the middle of the bridge.. and people were dancing and jumping around and pumping their fists. This little old woman was jigging all over the place. She was really precious! I wanted to go dance with her.
This is my birthday present from Jason...5 year old student who occasionally writes me love letters. This is a random part of one of our science projects that he taped a colored heart onto. He held it against the wall and swung it back and forth like a pendulum and told me I can put it on my wall. I love Jason.
"I love you
happy Birthday
Your are present
be my love.
This is a
secret sh sh sh so. They are
you can be birthday. Happy
Birthday"
I didnt' keep his secret.
Had to add this for fun. We were trying to get a shot of the four of us at the fountain show and had set up the camera on a chair with the timer... and this family was sitting next to us just watching. Well their little girl came and got in front of the camera when she saw it flashing. It's a priceless pic and captures some of Korea for me because the parents just laughed as she almost made my camera tumble to the ground. Luckily it didn't and we got a cool shot anyway. :)
This was a special cake from Matt and Andrea. We feel really celebrated this year. On top of the two from school, and this one, two of my teachers gave me a cake on my actual birthday so Jon and I could celebrate together. That makes 4 cakes! I can truly say I ate more cake this birthday than any time I can remember.

I am so happy for you. God is so good to provide for us, even beyond what we need. So glad that you had fun celebrating your birthdays. What a precious present from Jason. Calvin's haircut is hilarious! You are both making a wonderful impact on the lives of these little ones.
