October in review

AND we're back! Well, actually Jon has been back for almost a month now, and I've been back a week and a half. It's kinda crazy how the time flies. We had a BLAST visiting home for several weeks. And by home I mean Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee, Alabama, and Arkansas. A little overview of some of the highlights:

Road trips! We both really missed driving and especially loading up on gas station food and snacks that we can't get here :)

We went to the Michigan game with Mom and Dad Bennett. I LOVE Michigan football!

Hanging out with the Bennett side...It's been a LONG time since all of us were together and it will be a while until it happens again, but when it does it's so fun!

Visiting our nephews and siblings in Alabama! We have a ball with them.

Cooking out on a fire and making s'mores! People here don't even know what they are.

Big juicy home grilled steaks...

...together with homemade mashed potatoes and fresh green beans!!

Things like Jon's favorite hot drink: gas station vanilla cappuccinos and for me Gotta Lotta Garlic salsa.

Olive Garden with the Gillespie side in Michigan.

Jon got his motorcycle permit so he could ride Matt's bike for a week.

 Hanging out with the siblings!

Seeing grade school friends.

Hanging out around the kitchen counter... a favorite past time at the Bihls. We spend hours right here...gaining lots of lbs eating Jeannie's cooking!

Fishing with Dad.

But now that we're back. Jon has been teaching for a few weeks now and has gotten back into his routine. The kids really missed him and we're really happy to see him back. I still have 4 weeks of vacation before I have to start teaching again. I'm using the time to study and practice more photography, make a scrapbook of my wedding...finally, read some books, and just relax. It's been fun being at home and having the house cleaned everyday and having dinner for Jon in the evenings.

Anyway, now that I'm back I will get back to keeping up with the blog every week or two. I'd love to print it off someday to show our kids. Since we've been back it's been raining on the weekends, making it not as fun to go out hiking, which is what we've both been really wanting to do a lot of this fall. It's gorgeous here and there are mountains every where in our city with beautiful views. But since it's rained off and on we only have hiked together once so far and we got a little wet, but it wasn't bad. This past Saturday night was the Busan firework festival, which was awesome! It's the biggest firework  show I've ever seen, so even though rain was forecasted, we decided to go for it. It is held on one of the biggest beaches in S. Korea and they shoot fireworks off of a huge bridge and also off of several ships out in the water. It's amazing. Over one million people show up for this thing so if you want to be able to sit down and not be a quarter of a mile back in the streets off the beach, then you have to be there early. We showed up and managed to get into a VIP area that had chairs on the beach, basically because we are foreigners and we looked like we didn't know where to go, so they let us in :) This is the only picture I got of us because it started raining and didn't stop for the next three hours. But it was gorgeous and even though we were wet and cold, it was a fun night.

On Friday our school had a Halloween party and even though I'm not teaching yet they invited me to come down for it. We took our kids out trick or treating to their parents houses. It was fun. Then we came back and they made pumpkin candles. Jason has the best faces and this is what he was doing trying to shape his wax into a pumpkin.

Jon and Ralph... Hogwarts lives on at Brighton.

Ann and her candle. She's grown up so much from when I first met her last August.

This year we are a wizard and a witch instead of a ghost and a devil. At least we're moving up a bit on the evil scale.

Superman! He's so good with his kids! They adore him.

Well, that's it for now. Gonna make Jon some homemade chicken noodle soup, just because I can.
