Hana-nim

Hello everyone. This is Jon and I am going to attempt my first blog in the 13 months I have been in Korea. Today I had a blog worthy experience in one of my kindergarten classes. This class is all seven year olds. Somehow the students got on the topic of God, which is really cool! Thankfully I know a few korean words and two of them I know are Jesus and God. It started with a student named Leo saying, "Hana-nim" (Ha-nah-neem) which is God. So this caught my attention. I asked him if he knew Hana-nim. He said Yes. That got me all excited. He then said, "Hana-nim is real." (Yeah Yeah Yeah) I said, "Yes, He is very real." Another kid in the class named Evan said, "Hana-nim is not real." Leo was very adamant about God being real as he raised his voice and said, "Yes, He is!" Then other students began to say that he is real and they know God. I ended up asking the class who knows Jesus and everybody but Evan said they did. I am praying that before these kids leave in March it will be all six kids who know him. All things are possible. Back to my story, next Leo said his mom really loves Jesus. He then goes on to say he sees Jesus in the sky. He was trying to explain what he saw. I really wasn't understanding what he was saying so he said, "Wait a minute," and jumped out of his chair and stood like Jesus on the cross. It was amazing.
I really want to show these kids Jesus. It has really been on my heart lately. So many of these kids come to school and have so much pressure to be the best at everything and they are really stressed out. I want them to come to my class and feel peace and not the same pressure they feel in a lot of classes. Please pray for these kids that they can experience the love of the Father. I want my class to be a place they enjoy because as I pray for the kingdom of heaven to be in that room they will be walking into the presence of God.

  4. How awesome is that Jon! Thanks for sharing. We have quite a large population of Korean students at our school here in Taipei because their parents are missionaries here. They are such a passionate, committed, and fun loving people group! Let's pray that God keeps working in amazing ways to reveal himself!
