We have gotten really behind with the blogging this past month. It's been a little hard because I (Nicole) have been sick for about a month now with a cold/cough/sinus thing. BUT I am hoping that I am finally coming out of it... especially since we are leaving in one week to go on a vacation to the island of Boracay. Going to the doctor here is not only difficult because of language, but a hassle because of our schedule, and we don't know what they are prescribing for us. So I've been trying out a few natural remedies I found online. I've been eating 2-4 cloves of raw garlic... it doesn't smell so good, but apparently it is nature's antibiotic, so we'll see what happens. I think it's working!
Anyway, I wanted to catch you up on the past few weeks. Christmas was kind of surreal again this year. It just doesn't quite feel like the holidays even though we have lights and a tree and presents. It's just not the same. We went to a Christmas party at the church here. It was pretty fun. It was nice to be around a group of people for the holidays. We had to play charades and act out other people from the church. This is Jon being a man who laughs really big.
This is a woman acting out Jon. She did two things to show it was him... pulled her hair back since Jon doesn't have hair...
...and did this motion like she was scooping out her eyes to show that his eyes are set deep in his face. No Korean people have their eyes set back in their head like that... so I guess it's pretty noticeable to them. We had never really noticed how deep his eyes really were before. Now we know.
This was Christmas morning skyping with our families and opening our presents they sent us. It was so much fun.
Jon enjoying one of his favorite things of the week.... A show on the discovery channel called: The Alaska Experiment. It's like a survival show. He wasn't even posing for this... He's just that into it.
This is random, but these are a gift from one of my teachers one day. They love Hello Kitty!
A feast that our secretary prepared for us one night after we had to stay late and do phone testing with our kids. It was very delicious. She worked really hard!
A few of Jon's kids who will be graduating from Kindergarten this year. I think he will be pretty sad to see them go. He will miss having them in class every day.
Ralph.. He's great!
When a friend (Korean) heard that I was sick, he prepared something for us and dropped it off. It was a bag with some roots, two asian pears, and some dried prune things. He told us to put it all in a pot, fill it with water, boil it for 20 min, let it cool for 20 min, and then drink it. I tried. I really did. But it tasted awful. I'll stick to the raw garlic I think.
