We recently went out with our four co-teachers who all speak English. It was a lot of fun to be with them outside of school. They are a blast!

We saw this decal in a big window on one of the busy shopping streets. No clue what it means. A potato reading a book on a toilet with the lid down and lots of toilet paper. Any guesses?

This was a snack we got served at a karaoke place. They have what they call a noury-bong here, which means like singing room or karaoke room. You and your friends rent it out and it has it's own sound system and big screen tv and couches and table and they serve you snacks while you sing the songs and it gives you score after each song. It was a lot of fun. Many laughs! This snack was super interesting. Ingredients include: milk over crushed ice, corn flakes, fruit, sugar, and red beans. I was bracing myself but it was actually delicious. Bizarre, but I loved it.

These trees were all long the streets and they are absolutely covered in little christmas cards and papers with peoples wishes on them. They were everywhere!
Our favorite:
The koreans looooove taking pictures. I have seen more huge camera lenses here than at a photography class in the states. There are places every where to pose for your picture. Here is just one of the many we saw along the way looking at Christmas lights set up along our favorite neighborhood. We had to wait in a short line to get a picture in the tree.

Happy Busan Christmas Busan.... Just in case you forget where you are.

This area was super decked out. More lights than an out door mall in the states. It was really crowded too. This isn't the norm, so I think lots of people come to see it, like an attraction. We loved it seeing trees everywhere and walking down the street to Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas is You!"

The other day we want to Shinsegae which is the World's Largest Dept. Store as of 2009 I think. And it was huge! There is a golfing range, a huuuuuuge spa land, an ice skating rink, a movie complex which includes a Cine Dine where you sit in big lazyboy looking chairs and are served dinner while you watch a movie on a huge screen, like IMAX, a sky park, an arcade, an art gallery and many many many designer stores like Prada, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Tiffany's among others. We spent 5 hours walking around this mall and only really explored maybe 3 out of 14 floors. It is just that big. Who can tell me what 293,904 square meters is in square feet???

There was this huge wall set up like a touch screen on a mac at Shinsegae. You could take your picture and put it on the moving slide show. If you notice Jon is on the wall in a photo.

We got ahold of some american goodies - hershey kisses and M&M's at Shinsegae, which are hard to find. I made one of my favorite snacks to take down to our teachers. They LOVE snacks and so do we! I love my tiny toaster oven and it's many capabilites.

The finished product. Masheesayo!! (Delicious) They liked them I think, although they were a bit sweet for them. Their chocolate here tends to be more bitter.

Until next time.

  1. Everything looks so fun! I can't wait to see it all. That corn flake/red bean snack is so odd, glad it tasted good. I think that place would be fun to go to. 6 weeks! Woo Hoo!
