Happy New Year, several days late. I haven't been keeping up with this as much since Christmas.Oops. We had a good new year, 14 hours before most of you. Kinda bizarre huh. It makes me rethink how in 2000 we thought the world might end at midnight, but wouldn't it have happened over here first and we would have had some warning?? Hmm.
Anyway, Jon and I have been going to a gym less than a block from our apartment for a little over a month now. We love it! When you get a membership you are given a small locker in which you keep your gym shoes to be used inside only. Upon arrival to the gym you take off your street shoes at the door and you pick up a shirt and shorts that belong to the gym to work out in. When you are finished working out you can shower or not and then change back into your own clothes and toss the sweaty ones in a laundry basket for them to clean. No sweaty gym clothes to take home! It's so nice. It seemed a little weird at first, but the clothes always smell very clean and are pretty comfortable. I also like it because then you don't have any girls in teensy weensy little shorts and tight shirts like you do in the states. Anyway, this man here is Kim Yong June and he works the morning shift, which is when we always go. He loves Jon! He has become his personal trainer, even though his english is veeeery limited. He helps Jon in lifting and everything. I think he looks forward to us coming in the mornings :) He even asked Jon to help him with English once a week, so they meet for an hour and give each other Korean-English lessons. This past Friday Night he took us out for Japanese food. It was very delicious and he is such a sweet guy. Jon's new best friend!
Your gym sounds really neat. It's great that you are meeting the people and making friends.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I did read your last 2 blog posts, I'm glad that you could get away from your apt. and enjoy your Christmas. Also loved seeing the pictures of the kids birthday dress & party.
