It's spring now and we are loving it. We've been getting out on our scooter to enjoy more of Busan. We look a little funny to the Koreans (They hardly ever ride double with a girl. The women here wouldn't ride on the back of a scooter.), but it's a convenient, cheap way for us to get around, and it's fun.
Having a picnic in a park nearby. The grass isn't much to look at yet, but there aren't buildings towering over us, so it's nice.
They have some of the rock paths at the park which you walk on without shoes and it supposedly helps your health. I like it because it's like a foot massage. A painful one, but it feels good when you step off.
Field trip day. Playing a little Simon Says. When I first taught my kindergarten classes this game it took a long time for them to catch on because one of the kids names is Simon, and they just didn't get why it was called Simon Says. I don't know the answer to that. But Simon felt special.
Jon and some of his little girls. Gotta love the hats.
We recently did a Raw body cleanse and part of it was to drink this fiber stuff at night for 7 nights. It did NOT taste good. It literally tasted (and even worse smelled) like vomit. Seriously. We had to take a picture for memories sake. Just looking at it makes Jon cringe. 2 cups each night. Probably won't ever do that again.
Just so we can remember what NOT to buy next time.
We went to lunch with Mr. Ha and his family this month. Mr. Ha forgot it was his birthday that day, but his wife bought a birthday cake. It was pink. Yay Un likes feeding Jon.
The girls like his scooter.
One of our favorite spots lately is going to this Korean coffee shop on the beach. It's so relaxing to look out and see the sky and the water. It is only 10 minutes from our apartment by scooter, and they have chairs. That is really the best part. We can sit in chairs. It's a nice change from sitting on our floor, which is where we spend most of our time when in our apartment. Also they played Jon McLaughlin there the other day. Some of you may know who that is, but I thought it was pretty random to hear his music in Korea.
Jon ran another race this spring. A 10k this time. It was a beautiful day! He had fun.
We were woken up several times by loud music at the intersection outside our window. This is a shot from our room. This is how they do campaigning for the elections. The two candidates have old women dancing to music... a dancing duel. And let me tell you some of the women were really getting into their parts. They thought they were on MTV. It was something else! Oh Korea, Korea, Korea. I just wish it wasn't so early in the morning!
Group skype. Technology is fantastic. All the Bennett side of our family together for a little Easter chat. :) Luke and Lauren said the burritos were good... incase you're wondering.
We drove to a nearby University with a mountain behind it to go hiking. The road up to the University had Cherry blossoms lining it. I just love this season. It goes by too quickly.
On our way up.
That's me standing on the top.
The white speck is Jon. That's where we had lunch.
This is Jason. He's a bird.
Yesterday he came up to me all giddy and gave me an envelope. This is what was inside:
To Nicole teacher
Nicole teacher
I love the Nicole teacher.
You can be my wife.
FF MM I love the cake.
Oh I love teacher.
Who do you get the It's happy
ZZ I'm going to Canada
from Jason
Is that the best or what???? Then I teased him and told him Jon teacher will want to fight him if he sees the note because I'm Jon teacher's wife... He was just grinning from ear to ear. So funny!
And this is Calvin. He's 3 years old. He's so cute and he adores Jon!

Its funny that the Koreans laugh at you for doubling up on your scooter. Here in Taipei....you will commonly see whole families of 4 and even 5 on their scooters. And even smaller scooters than yours!
ReplyDeleteWe too have the rocky path foot massage. Painful!
We also have the crazy loud music, singing/dancing for elections!
Oh, Asia!
Isn't it fun to experience all these new things! Hope we can share in each other's country sometime soon.
What a fun place to be, I love to read your stories. The kids are so adorable, love the note & what a cute face! It's great that you got to talk to your whole family Nicole.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted you to know that the youth did our sunrise service here Easter morning and Jared played the electric guitar in the praise band, he did really well. Thank you so much for giving it to him, he loves it and plays it every day. Caleb sang with the praise team. Quite a few of the youth spoke during the service, both Jared & Caleb spoke. Jared had practically everyone in tears, he really spoke from the heart. I'm so proud of both of them.
Love you both.
I wish I could have been there for that!! Do you have it on tape???
DeleteHappy birthday Nicoleleigh!
